What makes a winning historical story?

As many of you know, the Weald & Downland museum in Singleton is one of my favourite haunts. It's such a special place, great for a tranquil Wilde Walk with Raine. So when I was approached by the museum to judge a short story competition, I just had to get involved. The Museum set a challenge to those feeling creative in lockdown, to produce a story in one of two categories. Historical fiction short stories, which relate to an aspect of the collection (houses/artefacts) of the Weald & Downland Living Museum, and are set between the years 900AD and 1930AD OR Historical fiction short stories, which are set anywhere between the years 900AD and 1930AD The final date for entry is 4th September 20
